Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Which AI coding plan is the best?

It depends on your use case. For maximum reasoning quality in the terminal, Claude Code leads; for a polished editor experience, Cursor or Windsurf; for budget users, GLM/z.ai, DeepSeek or Qwen; for self-hosters, the open-source agents Cline & Roo Code.

Are there genuinely free options?

Yes. Gemini Code Assist, Cline, Roo Code, Qwen, DeepSeek, MiniMax and Kimi offer meaningful free tiers or are open source (you only pay for the model usage of your own API key).

Subscription vs. usage API — which is worth it?

Subscriptions (Cursor, Copilot, Claude Pro/Max) are predictable and have soft caps. Usage APIs (DeepSeek, Qwen, GLM, OpenAI) are often cheaper at high volume but unpredictable in price. Agents like Cline/Roo combine an open-source client with your own usage API.

How up-to-date are the prices?

Providers change prices and limits frequently. We maintain the data centrally in providers.json and update regularly — always verify on the provider site before signing up.

What about privacy & enterprise?

Tabnine and Cody (Sourcegraph) have strong privacy/self-host stories; GitHub Copilot and Windsurf offer enterprise plans with SOC2/admin controls.
